Hi, I am Steve Savidge and 1st Gear Driving Academy is my driving school. This page is a brief insight into who I am and what I am about. Basically I am very easy to get along with, and hopefully able to adapt to the varying demands of each individual!

OK, a short history... Firstly, I am a fully qualified DSA approved driving instructor.

Like most instructors, I started out by taking a franchise from an established driving school. (1st Stop School of Motoring, of Cardiff). Eventually I started to get a name for myself and found that an increasing amount of my work was coming through personal recommendations from satisfied customers.

I decided to set up my own company in 2006, Thus 1st Gear was born.

I have an enviable success rate and aim to teach pupils to a high standard, giving everyone the ability to pass first time.

I feel that it is important to teach at a rate that each individual is comfortable with, so although I can be patient and relaxed, I also believe in encouraging pupils that are able, to learn quickly so that they may pass in good time.

I believe it is important to teach pupils to drive properly, not just to pass the driving test. When teaching how to reverse into a bay for instance, I teach a method that will work in any vehicle, in any carpark. I think far too many pupils get taught in a way that means that after they pass their test, they never again reverse into a parking space because they do not know how to do it unless they are in their instructor's car in the test centre car-park!

I believe that providing a good honest value for money service will mean I get more and more referrals from satisfied customers.
